Pattern - Geode Cowl

We used to find geodes on our farm in Indiana pretty regularly. The layers and the bumpy texture of this cowl remind me of those curious rock formations. To enhance the effect, use a slub yarn like HauteKnit Yarn’s Vivienne for the garter sections. (Not recommended for the lace sections)

This pattern contains instructions for a cowl in two lengths—one layer or doubled for two layers. Finished measurements 8” wide and 20.5” diameter for single cowl, 41.25” diameter for double cowl.

1 skein HauteKnit Vivienne, 100g = 438 yds
1 skein smooth sock yarn, 100g = 437 yds

Needles
16” (24”) circular needle US size 5 (3.75mm) - or size needed to achieve gauge
Extra needle US size 5 (3.75mm) for cast on (can use circular or double point)

Gauge
17.5 sts  = 4 inches (10 cm) after blocking
